Kuala Gandah Elephant Senctuary

My papa brought us back to KL and had to go back to island to finished packing so our grandparents decided to bring us to the elephant sanctuary.

So I ride on my ah Kong elephants to see the gentle giant. This is how big an elephant is! And they are so clever too!

And I ride on my popo! The view is nice up here! Just like how the elephant can see!

This elephant sanctuary is very nice, they treat the elephant well, and mama told us that all the elephants were rescued. Some are orphans, because their parents were killed or captured. Some lost their home due to deforestation. Here I am feeding a baby elephant banana.

At the sanctuary there is a man explaining about elephants, and some very clever elephants show us what the elephants can do. We can ride the elephants too, but we went on Deepavali holiday and there were a lot of people, and the ride seats were full, so mama said next time we will try!

Because we came when it is raining, the trip had to cut short. But we were really thrilled to see the elephants and feed them too!

This is after the baby elephants took their bath, we took a group photo with our neighbour. We didn't look too impressed because we were too closed to the elephant, and my friends started to cry so me and my mei-mei also felt disturbed.

Mama told me next time we will go in the river with the elephants and bath with them! We will take papa next time too!

Note from mama:

This is a must visit with your kids. It is a very well taken care of place, no administration fee, only donation. You can bring food and picnic there, bathing with the elephants seems really nice. You will have to obtain another type of pass for bathing and riding elephants. They are doing this so to limit the number of trips for the elephants. They are at the sanctuary for protection not for show.

A lot of information about elephants can be seen around the park, and lovely environment they have for the elephants old and young.

It is only about 1.5 hr drive from Kuala Lumpur.

Monsoon Holiday part 2 - Reptile and Butterfly Farm Melaka

Hello all, here is the second part of our very happening monsoon holiday, within 1 week, my mama got us to see many things. This time we have to go to see doctor at Tangkak for our allergies so we went to Ayer Keroh to see some real crocodile!

We arrived at the Reptile and Butterfly Park along with papa and mama, and off we went to explore the park.

We were first greeted by this huge Galapagos Lizard, I really love it! It loves his vegie just like us!

The park is not very stroller friendly so I help my papa and mama to carry KA's stroller when going up and down the stairs.

I loveeeeee the reptiles, especially the snakes! I got soooo excited being able to see the snakes up close!
Check out the size of this python! Papa said it can swallow a cow whole! Woah!
FINALLY! I got to see the REAL crocodile. There were so many crocodiles here, and we saw one went underwater, and blew bubbles through the eyes! Papa said he had never seen crocodile which could blow bubbles through the eyes before!

I ask the crocodiles if they are selfish (the show Selfish Crocodile), but they seem to share the pond with each other without fighting, so mama told me they were good crocodiles and sharing crocodiles.

When my brother running around yelling with excitement I just enjoy sitting in my stroller, feeling like a princess.

My favorite part of the part is the butterfly park. There are so many pretty butterflies and flowers around. My brother would point them out for me, and sometimes tried to catch one for me. But my mama got crossed at him for doing that, because she said it will hurt the butterfly.

Look at me, am I as pretty as the butterfly?

We love our adventure at the Butterfly and Reptile Farm.

Kai Ann's allergy - 2nd Visit to Tangkak Dr. Wong

Through a blog mom's recommendation, we took KA to see Dr. Wong who practice NAET. After 1 and a half month of taking the drop given by the doc, we revisited him for a follow up.

Her egg allergy was 25 (range between 0-25 for allergy level, for 25 being the highest), and it is now dropped to 7. He informed that we are doing very well for her allergy to dropped from highest to 7. And it would be totally cured in no time!

Both KJ and papa's allergy improved also, and best news is KA had less skin irritation since we started the drops. The fee is not cheap for the revisit, it is RM100 for the new drop. In total we spent RM240/person for 2 visits so far. But we felt it is worth it, if the allergy can be neutralized!

1st week of our monsoon holiday - Part 1

We are back from the island for the monsoon, and mama wasted no time and started our adventure with a lot of things lined up.

First she found out that we manage to catch the last show of "The Selfish Corcodile" by the Bunderbus Theatre, and she took me there. This is the second time I have been to watch a live theatre. The first one was Elmer the Elephant but I think my mama forgot to blog it. This time I am 3 years 4 months old, and am a big boy. I enjoyed the show more, and dance and sang along with the animal a lot. I even get to play ball with the antelope! My mama bought me the book and we have to read the story every night! Wonder where was my papa? He had to miss all this because he went to Johor to attend his friend's wedding.

The next day we went to KL Bird Park with my best friend Lukas and his sister Maya, my sister's best friend.

This peacock was a show off, he flew to my front, and opened up his tail and made sure everyone saw him and took picture of him!

After watching all the birds, we took a break on the swing.

This is us, mama said we were monkeys in Bird Park!

I like bird park, we can have our meal in the restaurant and watching bird at the same time. Also I like watching papa and mama fighting with the birds because they keep coming to steal our meals!

Kai Ann 18 month old

Hello all, I am Kai Ann, I am 18 month old. I have got electrifying smile, and I know how to use that as my best weapon. I have got bad egg allergy, and my papa and mama had tried everything but still had bad eczema, until recently our visit to a homeopath and it had finally got under control. An occasion of flare out, but nothing serious like it had before. As you can see I scratched all over my face and chest.

Besides that, I am perfect!

I love dancing, and dance very well, this is my newly invented shadow dance. Enjoy!

KJ learn to write

I am homeschooling KJ, and letting him decide when he is ready to learn. I notice he recognized some "shape" of words and letter, so I started showing him how to write. This is him writing the first letter. He is an "A" monster now, he will "draw" A on any surface.

Hey, is KJ here, I am 3 years old, and I am a big boy. Big boy does cool things, and among all the adventure, we tried watching movie this time!

I love the movie Cars, and I watched it so many time on my little DVD player until I can memorized everything!

So my papa decided to take me to a real movie!

We boys had a good time together!

and I got to see some of my friends up close!!

The screen is giant! And I love the pop corn too!

I had a little peeing drama in the cinema which my papa uses a bottle to solve, but we accidentally wet my underwear in the dark, and I was feeling insecure without my underwear, and started to get cranky, but papa manage to calm me down, and we finished the whole movie! After the movie, papa praise me for being a big brave boy, and asked me to choose a Cars toy, I took the King, and papa reward me with McQueen because I wasn't greedy and only ask for 1 toy.

I had a very nice day with papa, and that day I slept at 8pm, cause I was so excited and worn myself out!

Kai Ann and her eczema - NAET 101

Kai Ann been suffering with rashes and itch since birth, and we went through many ways to finally find out she is allergy to eggs. Recently her eczema got worst, and she scratched the back of her legs raw. It really brake our heart watching our pretty princess going through such horrible ordeal!

Hubby has got family history of allergy, and he too suffer from a lot of itch, this time round I am determine to find another solution which is seeking help via Homeopath. This term was introduced to me by meeting many travelers. I have met many parents who travel with their infants, and they went to places like India, mountains of Papua New Guinea with young baby like 4, 5 month old, and they all sworn by the homeopathy travel kit they carry with them. A good friend Libby also mentioned about the NAET method her homeopath uses on the patients.

So we came back and I did a shout out on Facebook, did not hear anything, a few people came back to me and provide me some contact, but non of them with recommendation, and I was worried and not too sure. Finally our best friend Synnee say my post and said she had a blog friend who has a daughter who suffer from eczema and saw this doctor at Tangkak, and through her we got the contact, and found more blog entries by other mommies about this doc.

We called immediately, drove 3 hours (1 hour was spent stuck in a jam near Nilai) and arrived Tangkak at 12:43pm (2 mins before the closed for lunch) managed to register, and went to the famous Tangkak Beef Noodle. After 2 bowls of beef noodle each (KJ included), we went to see this doc. I was very excited about this visit.

When we went into the doctor's office, Dr. Wong is a very pleasant man, soft spoken, not like those really famous doc I had been recommended who show the "I-know-what-I-am-doing-and-I-am-famous" and "You-r-such-a-lousy-parent-who-make-ur-child-sick" face. Before we went I sort of inform hubby about NAET method so he knew what to expect.

The doc had the child sitting on our lap, and let her hold a test tube with potential allergens in them, and we were to raise one arm and he will push the arm down, we were to resist the the push, but when the tub contain substance that the test tube holder is allergy to, the arm will not be able to resist the push from the doctor.

He has got basket and basket of test tube with all sort of things you can never think off. He will go through the allergen and finally when found, he will check the level of severity. There is a scale of 0-22, Kai Ann is allergy to egg, and it is the highest of 25! Kai Ann started screaming half way, and demanded to be carried by me, and wanted out, so we can't really continue any further, which is a shame, cause I suspect she has more.

Ronnie and KJ also got tested, and Papa is highly allergy to Yeast, and House Dust Mite, and KJ is to House Dust Mite, and Dog. It solved the mystery of Ronnie's itch and poxy spots on his back. Now we know that Vit-C contain yeast, and that is the cause of his outbreak whenever there is fly bug around and he started on Vit-C.

The doc gave them all drops, which is prepared by having a tube of saline, and with the substance you are allergy to next to the bottle, and have them spin really quickly to get the aura of the allergen into the water, and with a drop behind the tongue, it will slowly coax your body to build up immune system towards the allergen.

The fee is not cheap, but if it works, we don't mind!

Roseola - Mama's entry on illness

KA had high fever for 4 days and nothing we did worked, and there was no other flu like symptoms like she usually had. After the 5th day of fever of average 38.9'c it suddenly stopped and follow by flat rashes all over her body. As we suspected KA had Roseola.

We had experience with Roseola when KJ was about 17 month old. But being inexperience and first time parents we freak out with the prolong fever, but was lucky that our pead advise us against anti-biotics because they all think it was viral infection and nothing anti-biotic could do about it! Yes I said they, because as I mentioned before we were new parents and were freaking out so we took KJ to 4 different doctors. Finally when the rash broke, and the last pead just sent us away and said, "Oh, it is Roseola, don't worry, it is the easiest of this family, like chicken pox and measles."

Now with KA, we were more relax, monitoring her fever, keeping her hydrate, and finally her fever fell, and rashes form, and we confirmed Roseola.

Relax. Don't panic!

Every time when the kids had fever we as parents will not be able to sleep at night. Worrying and getting ready to ER.

Here are some tips on Fever:

Fever is a way to show that the body is doing some fighting, a low grade fever should not be too much of a concern, just keep monitoring the temperature, if it is between 38-39'c I generally let the body fight it without using paracetamol.
drink a lot of fluid, I usually give 100plus without gas, or best if you can get coconut water.
if the kids are active, not rejecting food (might not eat as much but still eating), they will be fine in no time.
Fever over 39.4'c will required immediate attention, after sponging down, give them paracetamol, fever should go down shortly. After taking paracetamol, do not give another dose within 3 hours.
Suppository is used only at night when necessary, and restrict to 4 per day!

I usually let the kids soak in bath tub longer, and they are happiest in there.

Kai Ann is 16 month Old

This is Kai Ann, and I have found words, and can compose some way of communication into somewhat call a sentence.

I can identify quite a few things, including my own body. I can give command, and do it very well to everyone. I am very fierce, and if you don't listen to me, I will bite!!

I love music, and will hum anywhere anytime when I am happy, and I will dance, and yes I can dance very well just like my grandma!

Physical development wise, I can run, and can climb up and down the chairs and to the table and onto the high chair and back out through the table, stopped and dance on the table, and climb back down from the chair. Something that my koko (big brother) still can't do as well as I can! :)

Oh, and my favourite thing is my mama's nen-nen, I sometimes call her nen-nen, not mama! hehe!

Ok, got to go now, the sound of BabyTV is calling me!

Breastfeeding my hyper-allergy baby - Mama's Entry

Breastfeeding has been a challenge with KJ, but being a determine cow, I succeeded and breastfed KJ to 16 month old, I stopped because I found out one day that I did not have any supply at all, and suspected it was due to my pregnancy with Kai Ann, and demanding little sister is taking all the supply to herself.

Breastfeeding KA was easy, at least I thought. Being an experience "cow" latching and supply was not a problem at all, she has been breastfed exclusively since. After 2 weeks, KA started to develop rash. Something we had experience with KJ before, only difference is, her rash didn't go away like the pead predicted, and continue to get worst. We seeked professional advise and all seems to think it is "milk rash" or "hormone rash". Finally a doctor told us the baby could be allergy to my breast milk! I was devastated when I heard that! I can't understand how can my baby be allergy to my milk? Isn't it developed especially for her? I felt so lost, and down, and at the same time blaming myself. I was given Isomil as a supplementary, but KA was determine to only want my breast milk, and rejecting the supplement, I continue breastfeeding her against all odds.

With some help from a dear friend Libby, we search the internet and decided to start an elimination diet, because we notice that some days she is fine and somedays there is a outbreak of rash. At first we cut off all allergy food like shellfish and nuts, she continue to develop rash, so we had to move to plan B, which is the total elimination diet: Eat only one kind of food for 3 days in a row. If no rash developed, that is "safe food", move on to the next type of food, and repeat the process. It was really bad news for mama, but I lost so much weight because of that and I am not complaining! :)

Finally we found the source of her allergy: Egg (highly allergy), raw cucumber and Jumbu Air. The last 2 was only found out when she started solid and we gave her cucumber and jumbu air. How bad is the reaction? If she touches eggs on her skin, it will blister like burn! She also reacted to margarine, but not butter.

If you have a hyper-allergy baby, you may want to try my method.

Hello everyone, yes I am 3!!!!

I am so happy that I got a nice Buzzlightyear Cake for my birthday, and I also manage to blow all the candles all by myself!

We had 2 times celebrations, but both are very small ones, nothing fancy like my 1st & 2nd Birthday we are having just my ah kong, ah po, papa, mama, jiu-jiu, ah che, and ku po family. That is my small birthday in KL.

We went back to Sitiawan to celebrate with my yeh-yeh and mah-mah.

I got all my cousins celebrating with me, and I really love having 2 time blowing the candles!

I love the birthday song so much!

Hello Everyone, I am KJ, almost 3 years old.

I am very big in dragon, and "How to Train your Dragon" been on my box office top chart for a very long time after "Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2".

Little talking and walking berry

Hello everyone, I am 1 year 1 month old now. I can walk very fast, chasing butterfly is my favourite pass time!
I am a little chatter box too! I can say:
-flowow (flower)
-mo (moon)
-twika (twinkle star)
-mum-mum (eat)
-nen-nen (milk)
-tetetete (gecko calling)
-bye-bye!
-turn turn turn
-round and round (nursery rhyme round and round the garden)
And many more!

I also use sign language, and I know how to tell others when I need toilet! I will say ng-ng for poo-poo. (mama: she just requested and pooped in the potty half way of me writing this entry!)

I am a little adventurer, I have explored everywhere I can see! I can even climb on chair to get on top of the table! I am also the source of entertainment at the restaurant, everyone laugh and play with me there. I just love being able to go where I want!

Kai Ann's Birth Story

Kai Ann just turned 1, and I had realized that I didn't do her birth story! That is why people say you gave 100% to the first child, and the 2nd. one you just went along! Anyway, I better do her birth story before I forget the details!

Pregnant with KA was more complicated. I suffer from morning sickness for the first trimester, and during my 3rd trimester, I got Gestational Diabetes, and had to be on insulin. At 36th week, we followed had KA delivered by C-section.

We went to the UMSC early in the morning for admission, and paper works, the mid-wife monitor me with the CTG and everything was normal. We waited for the OT to be ready while Bro and hubby nodding away beside me bed. This time less chaotic, firstly because we were more "experienced" and secondly, this was not an emergency c-sect like KJ had, so everything were going according to plan.

Ronnie stayed with me at the waiting room at the OT while waiting for the Anesthetist to arrive because it was a Sunday, and I did not prebook her. Once in the OT, everything went smoothly, except my heart beat went up and felt the same suffocation when my right arm was not elevated slightly. It happened when I had KJ too. I requested to propped my arm up but they didn't allowed me at first, I did warn them, but not until I show sign of distressed and short of breath only they rolled up a cloth to elevate my right arm, and everything went back to normal again.

Prof. Eugene was very good with his work, getting KA out and stitching me up. This time I get to hold my baby and kiss her before she is wheeled out to meet her papa. Tears rolled down my eyes without me realizing it, till I felt the warmth of them.
Before me is the most beautiful baby girl in the world!
She was 3.4KG at birth, length was 48cm.

KJ is officially diaper-less - Mama's entry

KJ is going to be 3 years old soon, and his biggest achievement for this month is he is completely diaper-less! Not even night nappy! We are so proud of our boy! It was easy to toilet train him to begin with, and after the circumcision re have to re-train him. It didn't take long till be got off the nap time nappy, and he only had accident about 3 times during his afternoon nap.
I suspected that he can hold his pee in for the whole night, and decided to try out by not letting him wear diaper before he sleep (usually we changed him into pajamas and diaper after dinner brush up.) True enough he woke up in dry diaper for the whole week, he had an accident before sleep, thinking he is wearing his diaper when he is in his pajamas, and that shocked him when the pee soak through. Since than he will always ask to go to the toilet even when he is in his pajamas.
For insurance we put the diaper on before bed, and sometimes he will request to put the diaper over his underwear (he is still calling them training pants). We were using the diaper cover with no insert for insurance, but so far so good! Hubby does not like the idea of pee in the bed, so he wanted to be 100% sure before he is taking the diaper cover off. To me KJ now look like superman wearing his diaper outside! :)

KA 1st Birthday Party

Hello everyone, I am 1 year old! We went back to KL for a party.
We prepared a lot of toys for my guest, so I would have to supervise closely to make sure everything is in place!
I got my papa, mama, koko, ah jiu, ah je, ah kong, ah po, kuku...many people to help me set up.
Koko is my party set up coordinator.
He got himself a lot of lovely assistants.
And U-Shern is my project supervisor zzZZzzZZz

and of course I would have to test it too! Ok, PASSED!!!
And this was my wardrobe assistant....
"Sorry ah Kong, you know I love you and all,but work is work, I'm afraid I will have to fire you!"
Now this is my AH JIU, he is my event manager, is he doing a good job?You see the look in my eyes when looking at my ah jiu? The answer is yes, he is a damn good Event Manager!!!
My Friends are slowly arriving, and they are all happily playing with the toys we prepared for them, and I am quite happy playing with their shoes...
As the guest arriving, my new dresser (my popo) got me into this lovely dress. Lucky I changed my dresser, wonder what my ah kong will dress me in!?! (No offense ah Kong, you know I love you a lot!)
See I so love you! Anyway, we have our favourite (actually is for my papa, mama, ah jiu, and most of the adults) lok-lok car.
Ok, let's party on! Like my party gear?
Play, and food....fun-fun-fun!

It was so much fun that I fell asleep half way, after I took a short nap, I woke up in time for my cake!

They are Growing too Fast! - Mama's entry

My babies are growing too fast, Kai Ann is turning 1 in 4 days time, and Kai-Jin will be 3 in 3 months time!
KJ is very independent in many ways, he can feed himself, and he can even use chopsticks!
He is still a story monster, and can now make his own stories. He can now watch a complete movie (cartoon), but when he likes the movie he will watch it over and over again. His all time favourite is "How to Train a Dragon". He is so into dragon that everything is about Dragons and Night Fury. He even got his grandpa to do a fusion story of 东海龙王(East Sea dragon King) and Night Fury!
Currently I am slowly starting to teach him how to read. We do not intend to rush him into it, but are starting the research on homeschooling, and preschool material.
He can count in 3 languages, speak fluent mandarin, and some English. He like doodling, and starting to draw circle and also starting to draw with theme.
Although he sometimes bully his sister, but this will be over soon, cause the sister is learning fast, and she has started bullying him already.

Our little princess is growing too fast! She is turning 1 soon!
This little chatter box is learning very fast, probably with a big brother around she can pick up things faster.
She can stand unsupported, and today she took 3 steps, but she is too scare to attempt.
We taught her sign language, but she decided to "speak". So far she will only sign "please" and other things she will just "ask" for it.
She call all female Mama, but with different tone. She called grandma popo, and PAPA to all male. Again with different tone. Her brother get a high pitch happy PA!! And when calling her papa she will just wail!
She can say

- 骂骂(scold-scold)
- 打打(hit-hit) (yes I know, a violent little girl, she says this to her brother a lot!)
- Nggg Nggg (sound we make to get her to pass motion in the potty, so she sees the potty she will make sound like this.)

Her allergy is getting better, break out of spots are getting lesser, we know for sure she can't take egg white, but sometimes she get reaction from cucumber, cooked carrot (only once), and kuay teow. But I no longer have to watch what I ate, I had tried eating all sorts of things and she does not have any reaction, so good news for me I get to eat food I like again!

Our dearest babies, papa mama love you very much, stay healthy and happy always!

Cheeky Kai Ann -Mama's Entry

My darling little girl is growing very fast, with number 2, we hardly notice how fast she grew and she is almost 1 year old!!!

Our cheeky little bee is a potential heart breaker. Her twinkling eyes, and cheeky smile get her away from murder!
We are glad that as she grew older, her rash problem is gone. I can now eat my favourite egg dish. I even tried shellfish, and she seems ok. Wohooo! I get to eat proper food again.
She is now releasing her grip and attempting to stand without support, but she is still learning, and very reluctantly. She is much more adventurous than her brother. And she is now learning to speak!!

She can call mama, papa, ge (brother), popo, fish, teng (lantern), and she mutter teng nai-nai (pretty lantern) yesterday! She did by chance mimic us some words before. And having a talkative brother around helps her pick up speech faster I suppose.

With her turning 1 in about a month and half time, we are expecting more surprise to come!

Sunway Lagoon

My kong-kong served with Kiwanis Malaysia, and each year Sunway Lagoon will sponsor the under privilege children a chance to enjoy at Sunway Lagoon. My papa and mama decided to also take us along (paying full cause we are not under privilege) to Sunway Lagoon.

We were enjoying ourselves at the wet park, but I am not very happy with the adventure pool there, cause the roof leak! (KJ hate the bucket of water tipping over when filled so he told papa that the roof leak!

This giant bucket poured water on people, and everyone sit in front of it waiting for it to tip over, but me and my mei-mei didn't like it!
But we both loved the wave pool. It reminded us of home...minus the sand.
I loved swimming underwater now, and I also like sneaking up to mei-mei and grab her feet.
This is my silly koko, I love him very much, and I wish I can do all the things he can do!!
I love splashing about in the water, it was very cold at first, but as soon as I got used to it, I just don't want to leave!!

I am just watching everything my brother does, and I am sure very soon I can make silly face like him too!

Countdown at Cameron Highland

Papa and Mama decided to take us togather with ah kong and popo to join our friends HayeLi and RyeLi to Cameron Highland for the new year.
This is my second trip to Cameron Highland, and this time round I am mobile and can explore the place on my own!
3 of us were having a blast together from making faces to playing and sleeping. Mama call us the monkeys!

The weather at the Cameron Highland is not too good, but whenever there is no rain, we will go out and play at the playground. I shown the girls how to jump from very high place!

and grazed my forehead...but there were ladies watching so I only cried a little bit and continue to play.

When the weather is not good, we stay home and eat junk food, (my first exposure to junk food, and am loving them!)

Influenza A - Mama's Entry

After celebrated new year both KJ and KA were down with high fever (39.4C),on the 2nd day KJ's fever subsided but KA continue to have high fever, they were both given antibiotics and doc noticed redness on both their throats, but KJ's was milder compared to KA. On the 3rd day, I started to have high fever (39C), sore throat, and chesty cough. I haven't fall sick since I was pregnant with KJ, and this is one of the worst I have had as far as I can remembered.
When I went to the doctor, he suspected Influenza A, and suggested a test, and result came back positive. And decided to ask papa to take the test since he too wasn't feeling well, and the result came back negative. Now left the babies, and we brought them both to the pediatrician for the test, and result came back that Kai Ann is positive and KJ is negative. So we had to be separated, the boys in 1 room, and the girls in another. I continue to breastfeed Kai Ann and doctor gave us tamiflu for the virus. KA's fever was under control when she started tamiflu, and it took me 2 days to cleared mine. But the side effect of the drug was giving Kai Ann strange dreams that she will screamed at night, and it also made me edgy.
We self quarantine for a week, but it was hard to keep KJ away, he was sleeping with his papa, and when papa got sick and he went to sleep with his grandparents. But when he woke up, he loved to hang out with his sister and me, and luckily he didn't catch the virus! That 1 week was worst than confinement, because there was no visitors, and we tried not to go out from the house to avoid in contact with the neighbours.
Thank god for supportive family we manage a major illness as a unit (all 4 of us), and all went well. KJ was such a good boy when papa and mama were sick he was so understanding and let us rest. KA was not too hard too except taking her medicine! Always need 2 of us when is her medicine time. Unlike her brother, he always ask for medicine. We call him junkie!
I pray for good health for everyone in the family during this new year! And also good health to all of you!

KJ and his imagination

Hello I am KJ, when I was this small I love imagining little bugs, and rain. They were my favourite things, and they cheer me up!

When I grow a little bit more, my imagination got bigger! One day I will be a little explorer, sail to the widest sea with my papa.
Sometimes I will imagine I am a dragon dancer...
Or the clever little pig who tricked the bog bad wolf!
I created my world with everything I can get...
I can built anything I want with my beloved Lego. (Yes I constructed both the airplanes)
Recently I have become Buzz Lightyear
I love his courage, and his loyalty....
I can fly like him, and be the toughest toy!

I took care of my "equipment" very well, everyday when my mama bath me, I will polish my laser, make sure my mama wash my wings, and wipe them dry so they don't rusted over!

I have a special button call "right on the bow" which I will press my "ding-dong" and fly!

Singapore Trip - Underwater World

A quick one before we move on to our new adventure of 2011. The last part of our Singapore trip:
The Underwater World!

It is like home here with lots of marine creatures. Mama and papa were as excited as we were.

The coolest thing to me is the conveyor belt, I ran up and down on it so many times till my papa told me the belt is tired, and needed a rest!

My mei-mei was really tired watching me, she fell asleep for most of the time!

When we were done with the underwater world, we were told to pose for the camera at the exit, and they took a group photo for us. The girl who took the picture thought I was very funny!
Mei-mei, I will bring you again, and next time you will get to enjoy the "conveyor belt"!

Sentosa Island- Siloso beach

Hello all, more on my Singapore holiday:
Our ah Jiu decided to bring my papa, mama, mei-mei and me to Sentosa Island, Singapore. And we stayed at Siloso Beach Resort.
At the Siloso beach we get to be beach bum again, but this time with STYLE! Check out the "styliest" beach bums!
Yes we have dinner in style!

The part we love the most is the swimming pool! It is unchlorined pool, therefore we get to swim in the without mama worrying about the harmful chlorine can do to us.

I was having soooo much fun at the pool. And mama invited Hoe Re and Xi Yu to swim with us. We had a very good time!

As for me, I am just having a whale of a time splashing about in the pool! Watch me!

Singapore Trip - Singapore Zoo

Our ah jiu (uncle) decided to bring us all to Singapore for holiday.
We went to the Zoo for the first time

KJ here, this is my second visit to Singapore, but my first time to the Singapore Zoo. I get to ride on my ah jiu, and get to see the view from above. And this place is awesome!!!

This Zoo is really cool, and we got to see some really cool animals we have not seen before, and also some animals we have wanted to see!

Genting revisit 2010

Our grand parents decided to bring us to Genting, we are all very excited.

I am KJ, and this is my...3 rd time to Genting Highland.

This time I am 30 month old, and I can do a lot of things, and enjoy a lot more than the previous visits. To me the highlight of the trip is this caterpillar monorail. It is the coolest ride EVER!!!

I can go on and on without getting off! And I think my mei mei love it too!

Besides the monorail ride, I also went on other rides

like this boat ride where I discovered that people throw a lot of coins in the water. And I asked my ah kong to jump in to collect the coins for me. (this boy has a new obsession since he was given a piggy bank, always asking for coins!)

I also like the train ride since I am now crazy about Thomas Train (yes even his underwear is Thomas).

I can go on and on and on in the train. Always got the engine seat, and ringing the bell was so much fun! Also singing away: "Thomas is the cheeky one, Kai-Jin is the Noti one!"
Everything is so much fun here at Genting Highland!

Kai Ann is 8 month old-mama's entry

Kai Ann is turning 8 months old tomorrow, and I have just realized I am not doing a good job in keeping track of her development as religiously as I was with KJ.

Being number 2, she is a real survival. She is very manipulative, and smart. By 8 months old she has MASTER the skill of crawling, demanding, babbling, calling papa, mama, koko, and even popo! She is a very fast learner, and she is impatient to grow up. Right now she is working on standing up by holding on furniture. We are predicting that she will stand by 10 MO.

She is aware that all adults are twirled around her fingers, and she has got the eyes that twinkled and shooting stars, so she can get away from her mischief.

Below is how she uses her "charm":

She eats very well, loves her solid, and most of the things I cooked for her she likes them. Her rashes is not totally gone yet, but is under controlled by me avoiding shellfish and duck meat. I have tried peanuts, and soy, and they are ok. So good news for me, I can have ice kacang, and satay again! Yipee!

A little note on her rashes, Hao Re's mama introduced me the Calendula cream, and it has work wonder! For mama with eczema babies, do try it!! Special thanks to Hao Re mama!

I just discovered jumping, REAL JUMPING, not your sissy baby jump. I learned that from my cousins during my visit to my yeh-yeh and mah-mah's home 2 weeks ago. Since then I can't stop jumping!

Toilet training KJ

We started toilet training KJ by taking his cue, and the beginning was a success, but after his penis infection and circumcision, the training start all over again.
He became uncooperative, and keep wetting his pants. We punished him but he still continue to wet his pants, so we decided to go easy on him and let him be. But the story of toilet train intensified. He started to refuse to go to toilet, even had a couple of poo incident (which he long ago trained for the big business). We decided to stop pushing. One day he got Thomas train's underwear from my friend Libby, and he has stopped wetting his pants totally.
And since yesterday, he demand to go to the toilet himself, by pulling his own pants down. He didn't let us go near him to help him, which cause a couple of accidents because of aiming problem. Our little control freak has finally master toilet training. He will take off his diaper after his nap ant jump to the bathroom. And his nappy is still dry, but we still not game to take his afternoon nap diaper off yet. Will wait 1 more week!
Well done KJ! Papa mama is proud of you! (Yes living in the wild help the toilet training a lot! :))

Hello all, I am Kai Ann. A sweet mermaid from the Bubbles Beach. I am now 6 months old. I can sit unsupported since I was 5 months old.
I have just started solid, and as predicted, I love my food!
I have been having rashes since birth and am still suffering from it! My mama has gone through everything she can to solve the rash problem, and she even went through the elimination diet, but we still don't know what causes it and how to cure it!
But regardless of my rash, I am still the sweetest girl!

Little Story Monster-Mama's entry

KJ loves story, he gets inspiration from stories. Good thing is I love stories myself, and love story telling from young. So we made up a lot of stories for him. Even his papa who claims to not good at story telling got the hang of it, and invented a lot of stories to full fill our story monster appetite.
When he went for his operation, his jiu jiu (uncle) must have told him over 500 stories during that 1 day!
We find the story telling a very effective way of teaching or implementing something to KJ. For example when we are toilet training him, we will tell him stories of how Buzz Light Year did so well with his training pants. When we want to encourage him on doing something challenging, we will just tell him stories with his favourite characters in it doing that thing. Often after a few days, he will take up the challenge without us pushing him.
We invented many heroes for him, like the little giraffe,hippo popo, little squirrel, little pig, abang, dinosaurs, strange enough the big bad wolf and the crocodile!
Among the stories many of them are made up. And I am going to document a couple of his favourite so he can always remember them!

Getting My Birdy Fix

My birdy has been really sore lately, and mama found blood on my diaper, and she decided to take me back to KL. So we took plane back to KL together with Uncle Chris and gang.
This is me looking at a helicopter at Subang Air Port. It is really cool, me and uncle Chris were having fun watching it.
The next day we went to see doctor, and doctor told mama that he need to fix my birdy, and we had to go for a "surgery".
So that night, ah jiu and mama told me stories about Buzz Light Year getting circumcision, Woody getting circumcision, and the whole night all the characters in the stories all got circumcised!

Because papa had to work, ah jiu accompany me to the hospital the next day.
We were at the waiting hall and they were showing Thomas Train on the tv! I really like this hospital!

We checked in to a room so mama and Kai Ann can rest together with me. And I started to get hungry, and demanded for my lunch, but mama say no food until after the surgery!
Suddenly a nurse came asking to changed into an ugly scrub, and I protested and refused to wear the hideous looking garment, and went to the OT in my own nice shirt!

Mama sent me to the entrance of the OT and had to go back to Kai Ann cause she was crying so loud that the whole hospital can hear her! So I went to with ah jiu, and he told me stories about Buzz Lightyear, and the nurse gave me Buzz lightyear's mask, and that was really cool!
When I woke up, I didn't feel too good, and I saw my popo, and I started to cry. (Before this I didn't cry at all!)
And yes they put on that hideous looking scrub on me when I was asleep! That is why I am not happy!
Once I changed back to my cool dude shirt, I am a happy boy again! And I got happier When I saw monorail train from the hospital window!
After a while I started to fell hungry again, and demand for my food, so my kong kong and popo got me some food.

and so I eat...
and eat...Yes I was really hungry!

After that doctor and nurses came to see if I am ok, and I was a bit worry, but I am a brave boy and I didn't cry!

This is how brave boy eat medicine, no fuss, no complain!
I got a Buzz Light Year as a present for being a brave boy!

When I got home I refuse to put on pants because it hurt! So I went bottomless for the whole day!
See how popo tide my shirt with a rubber bend so it didn't touch my birdy.

On the 3rd day after operation, I am back to normal and went out to have breakfast with Hornbill.

Now it is still painful, but I am jumping up and down and running around when I forget about it, but sometimes I will request to be carry around because it is very painful. I have got new game now which is fixing body part, which involve sawing and cutting the part and fixing it.

Oh, during the whole operation day, I must have heard not less than 500 stories, cause I keep demanding for them! Lucky my ah jiu is a story machine! Thank you ah jiu!

Hello everyone, I turned 2 on the 28th of June, and we have an island celebration and on the 1st July we went back to KL for my big birthday party organized by my beloved Kong-kong, Popo, Ah Jiu and ah Che.

First we took a flight, since I am already 2 years old, I am getting my own seat, and this time, I really enjoyed my flight and I was very excited with the whole experience!
Note that both me and my papa looked tired, because our flight was delayed by 2 hours, and I didn't have my nap because I was too excited about the whole flying experience.

When we got back to KL, our grandparents are so happy to see us,
I was having a lot of fun playing with my favourite ah jiu, and he got me a lot of toys!
I got some little dinosaurs toy, and my grandparents got me this lovely bike from the US.
But I got sick on the day of my party, I had fever and the nice Doctor person gave me some medicine to take. And I am the most cooperative medicine taker, everyone watched and cheer for me.
What I love best about birthday part is the singing part,
I looked forward to it the most!

I also LOVE cutting cake!
and of course the eating part.

KA 3 months old update -Mama's Entry

Kai Ann is 3 months old, and she has grown so fast and so well! The recent check up show that she is now 6.9kg (no wonder my arm hurt so much from carrying her for just a few minute), and lenght 65cm. Comparing to KJ who was only 5.4kg, and length 57cm, she is on the 97 percentiles.

KA does not sleep much during the day, but she is very good at night, she wakes up once at about 1 am for feeding, and go straight back to sleep, and the next feed usually around 6am, and she will sleep till 8am, or until her brother wakes up.

Her favourite position is up right, she is a very strong girl and she is already sitting in the high chair to join us at the dinner table.

She loves moving around, and coo responsively to people who greets her. Laughing out loud is her latest acquired skills.

She rolled over once, and like her brother, didn't want to try again.

She loves the sea, and we have to take her for a swim every evening if weather permit. And the sea water is good for her skin. She is still having rashes problem, and her cradle cap is slowly reducing.

This little princess is a lot of work for mama, because she only want mama, but since she turn 3 months old, she is a little bit better, and starting to take her papa well.

Toilet Training KJ - Mama's Entry

4 days before KJ's 2nd birthday we have decided to start toilet train him.
Since KJ is about 5 months old we started putting him on potty every morning to do his "doodie", and he has been very good in letting us know when he need to poop. Until recently, this boy stopped informing us when he need to do his big business. So I have decided to start toilet train him, and take him off his nappy, cause he is getting too comfortable in his nappy.

Day 1: He did his morning "business" in the toilet, and after breakfast we successfully coax him into peeing in the toilet. And that was the only success for the whole day, after the morning, he was happily going in his training pants, and only notifying us when he wet his pants. He even poop in his pants, and refused to be washed by the maid.

Day 2 (Today): Successful morning business, 2 wet pants, and 1 successful peeing in the toilet right before nap time, which earn him reward of 3 stories. We told him if he does not soil his pants later, he will get 5 stories as his bed time stories. (He loves his stories.)

Me being the geeky mom like I always does is reading up all about toilet training now. Am open to suggestions from all experience mom! I want the experience to be less stress for both parents and child. Hubby has been really supportive in this so far!

Hello everyone, the island internet has been dreadful therefore mama has been slacking in updating our blog.

As you can see, I am growing (a lot), and getting used to the island life. I love the sea like my kor-kor (big brother).
In fact I jump in the sea for my first swim earlier than my brother!
I love hanging out on the beach with my papa, but when I am tired I will always go back to my mama!

Ok, I want my mama now!! MAMAAAAAAA!!!

MAMA'S ENTRY on Kai Ann's Rashes

Both Kai-Jin and Kai Ann suffer from rashes during the early stage, but KJ's rashes are gone slightly pass 6 weeks. And Kai Ann has got more severe case of rashes, that I had to take her to the doctor. She told me that Kai Ann has got hormonal rash or also known as milk rash, which cause by my hormones. But she has a very bad one! So the doctor prescribed me some hydrocortizone cream which contain steroid. I used it once and the rashes went away, but the next day its back again. I decided not to use it again, because Kai Ann was only 3 weeks, and I am exposing her to steroid and moreover on her skin!! Poor girl continue to have poxy face like a teenager! The doctor said will go away latest by 3 months old.

When we got back to the island, her condition did not improve and more problems arisen. There were clear liquid came out from behind her ears and got cradle cap. My poor girl now smell like a stinky cheese! I asked my dad to consult the doctor, and she told us that it is a package deal. I can use the hydrocortizone cream for the face and olive oil to soften the crust on her scalp and brush them off her head, and the cradle cap problem will be solved. Touching Kai Ann's rough face, feeling really sad and wonder where is the baby smooth and soft skin? Searched the internet and tried everything that is suggested by the helpful moms, but still the rashes did not subside.

Finally while sitting by the beach, brushing off her crust, I had an idea - take her for a swim in the sea. I should have thought about it sooner!!! The result was amazing! We saw the instant result! Her skin smoothen overnight, rash reduced and the ears were not oozie anymore! After the second time in the sae, her skin was cleared, and got smoother to touch too! But after 2 days of hot weather an no swimming session in the sea the rash came back. So we decided to dip her in sea water daily until she got rid of all my hormones in her system.

That is my natural remedy for milk/hormonal rash. Try it, if no sea water try saline!

BACK TO THE ISLAND!

Hello all, sorry for lack of updates! We just moved back to the island after 6 months of being in the city. I was actually quite sad to be part with Kong Kong, popo, Ah Jiu, Ah Che, Pikang GeGe, Lucas, kakak, Wor Kei (ok that's my favourite Kopitiam) and all my playmates. Now that I am back in the island, I am starting to enjoy re-exploring the island again.

It's rather different from the city, I still not used to going barefoot cause the sand always get stucked to my feet everywhere I go and I cannot wear a lot of my Air Jordans, adidas, New Balance Ah Jiu has bought me.

Papa and mama move our resort closer to the creek so this is where I usually hang out now

Sometimes I do take my giant turtle out and spend my time lying on its back and think of what to eat next, yummy!

Mama asks me to put on sunblock all the time if not she says I will look tan like papa wor! I find it quite funny hehe

Talking KJ and his punch lines - mama's entry

I always read other people's blog about their kids conversation, and some funny remarks from a child, and wonder when will it be our turn. And now KJ is a parrot, and he has been talking none stop lately, with extra long sentences, there are a couple of conversation that I would like to record down.

One day at the car porch:
Ah Jiu (my brother) and KJ are playing near the sand box, and KJ took a broom and started sweeping up his mess.
KJ, "Aiyo!" Indicating the messy floor.
Ah Jiu, "Yes, look at the mess! Who made a mess?"
KJ matter of factly, "Ah Che!"
Ah Jiu >_<"

At Ikea:
Papa carried KJ from car park, after 30sec, KJ requested his uncle to carry him.
KJ, "Papa no enerygy, ah jiu got energy!"

One day Papa taking KJ to the swimming pool:
KJ, "KJ know how to swim, papa don't know how to swim!"
And he started to give papa swimming lesson!

Lunch time grandma calling out to everyone to come down for lunch:

I am a Big Brother Now!!

Hello everyone! I just became a big brother! My little sister arrived with a lovely present, a Bosch Tool Set! What a cool present!!
Anyway, I am a very proud brother because my mei-mei (little sister) is cuuuutttteee!! I looked forward in meeting her, and everyday I looked forward to visit my mama and mei-mei in the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital, I have got the biggest smile on my face!

21 months update - Mama's Entry

My baby is almost 21 months, and in 1 day time he is going to be a big brother to his baby sister. Here are some of the recent development of our little chatter box.

Last week he has been down with viral fever, and he became extra clingy to me. We think he senses that his little sister is arriving soon, and he is going to have to share his parents.
This is how he demand attention, he wanted us to hold him to sleep. But later we found out that he was actually having fever.
After 4 days of diarrhea and fever, we decided to take him to have a blood test fearing he got dangue fever or something serious. Poor boy got his arm pierce for the first time for blood drawing! It was really disheartening to see his arm wrapped up like this!

When he got a little better, we bought him his very first pet, actually pets. 2 tortoises, and he name them "Tak-Jin and Tan-Jin". I don't know where that come from. But his "friends" are all with Jin as name. Like himself!

We told him that he is going to choose a present for his "mei-mei" (little sister), he decided to buy her a doll. We do not know why he choose a doll for his mei-mei, because he never play with a doll, and neither have he seen others playing with doll before. It is really interesting to know what is going on in his little mind sometimes.

He has been like a monster lately, with growing attachment to me as the time get close to the delivery. He demand to be carried by me a lot, and especially today he wanted me to bath him and take him to the toilet (which has been his papa's department for a very long time).

As for his development, he is a real chatter box. He can speak sentence as long as 8 words combine. Sometimes even with adjectives! We are just glad with KJ's development so far, and we hope he will be a loving brother to his little sister!

Soon there will be papa, mama, Kai-Jin and mei-mei in the family.

A visit to FRIM

My jiu-jiu worried that I got urbanized too much since I left the island for too long, and he decided to take me to somewhere close to nature! We went to FRIM (Forest Research Institute Malaysia).There we saw a lot of animals! Jiu jiu is pointing at some monkeys for me.
I get to ride in the backpack, while jiu-jiu become my donkey! This is usually my papa's job, but he is away back to the island to work, so my jiu-jiu got the honour.

After a short hike, we decided that the weather is too hot for this polar bear family, and we stop by a little waterfall to enjoy the cool stream. Mama told me that we have a creek where papa used to take me every evening when we were on the island. I do remember that place. It was so much fun! And this place is not too bad too!
After playing the in the water, we all got hungry, and I got very tired, as you can see on my face, that I am getting very "stone" from all the excitement.
We have to hike back down, and it is more tiring when the weather is getting hot!

This is us, after getting back to the foot of the hill. We all had a good time!!! My city slicker jiu-jiu will have muscle ache tomorrow I think. And mama say I will have to give him massage tomorrow cause I kept wanting him to carry me!

Thanks for such a good time jiu-jiu! We should go back again!!

Hello Everyone, it is the festive season. We are all busy celebrating Chinese New Year here. During Chinese New Year, we all get to wear new clothes, get any pows, and a lot of good food!

Counting KJ's family member - Mama's entry

KJ loves to count his family members especially during a car ride, he will go: "Papa, Mama, Kong-Kong, Popo, Jiu-Jiu, che-che, ter-ter." And whoever that he grew fond of during a visit or was in the car that day. Each time he says the names he will nod as if taking account of each of them. Today we went to my parents' office, there is a Bangladeshi worker Aman at the office that KJ likes to play with came to greet KJ. When we left to go home, and there was only My brother and me in the car, and we were on our way to pick up his papa, so Kai-Jin asked," Papa? eh-he?" (where is papa?) I told him we are on our way now to pick up papa, and he started to count his family, "Ah Jiu, mama, papa, Aman." My brother say, "Oh, Aman is your family member ya?"

To be named in KJ's list is not easy, some tried very hard and still never be named. There are just a handful of privilege ones. :)

Trip To Penang

Hello all, here's another family trip to Penang recently.

Auty Ilse and Uncle Brian were visiting from Amsterdam, so we made a trip to Penang. This time I enjoy the trip more than last year's trip. I get to do a lot of things this time, and we stayed at Gurney Hotel where they have this really cool swimming pool:

I just love the slides! I had so much fun that I refused to go back!

Another I love about the hotel is the view! I just loved the view up there, I even did my business admiring the sea view!

We also visited Khoo Kong Si, I just loved it there, because I get to climb all the steps, and trying to run between doors. That made my papa, mama, and the guard nervous because of all the antiques! :P

18 month old - a Pictorial update

Hello Everyone, I am turning 18 month old tomorrow (28th Dec) and my mama says I am a big boy now. Here are some of my recent pictures.

I love posing for pictures, and I will show you my cutest smile whenever you point a camera at me. Am I charming?

These are my cousins, and I love playing with them. When I go back to my yeh-yeh and mah-mah's house, I got a lot of friends to play with!

Since I am becoming a big boy, I enjoy doing a lot of things on my won, and have a lot of fun!

Yes, and I am only 1 year old, a lot of people think I am 2 plus because of how I do things.

I am usually very brave and bold, I dare to walk the suspension bridge by myself, and refuse help from an adult.

As for communication, I am a little parrot nowadays. I mimic most word my papa and mama taught me. And lately I developed a liking towards heavy machinery, like lorry, crane, excavator, oil tanker, and cement mixer! I can point them out from far!

Hatyai Hospital

We made a trip to Hatyai Thailand few days ago, and I got sick on the second night. Had fever, and the adults got worried, and took me to see doctor. I was brought to a private hospital, and that was an eye opener to everyone!

Thailand is called the land of thousand smile, and even the hospital is full of them too! The service was incredible! When we arrived, a PR welcomed us, and help mama to register me.
As seen below, the pretty ladies in blues are the PR who attended to everyone who walked in.

Since mama is pregnant, they gave her a mask to protect her, I didn't like how she looks with the mask on, so I hung out with my jiu jiu at the waiting hall.
We didn't have to wait long and a nurse came to took me and my papa to a treatment room, and they sponged me down in there. Everyone can hear me screamed from the lobby! I didn't like how the plastic bed feel on my back! After being sponged down, the doctor saw me and talk to my papa and mama. It wasn't anything serious, just slight fever and a little sore throat, so they sent me out to play with jiu-jiu again.
Yes I know I didn't look sick here, but trust me, I was REALLY not well!

Anyway, while waiting all the adults got free drinks from the hospital, a tea lady pushed a trolley, with special lemon grass tea free for anyone who is in the waiting room. They even wrote the nutrition value of the drinks but they are in Thai so nobody understood.

When it was time to pay, my kong-kong went to the cashier and paid, and mama and papa are all guessing how much the bill will be with such good service. And the bill turn out to be...........

They all said they will come back if they got sick again! But I know I won't! The bed was horrible!

Water Baby

The weather has been really bad, and we have not been to the pool for a while, and today my papa and mama decided to take me there early so we can at least get to have some fun before the usual evening rain. I love animals, birds, and bugs. So my kong-kong and jiu-jiu decided to take us all to the bird park in KL. I had a blast of a time there!
I find a lot of interesting birds there, and most of them I have never seen on the island before, like this Horn bill!

I ride on papa most of the time, but I enjoy running around on my own!
Besides watching birds, I had my favourite ice cream there! Yum!
I met little chic for the first time! They are so cute and fluffy! but the adults don't let me touch them fearing that I will squash them!!Hello Mr. Ostrich! I am taller than you!

It was really really fun! The adults were all exhausted but I am still very excited about the visit! Can we come back again please papa?!

Teaching your baby to "swim" - Mama's entry

Many of our friends are asking what do we do to create such a water baby? And how young can they start bringing the baby to swim?
Although we are expert in SCUBA diving, but we are not expert in baby swimming, the technique are all through research and experiment. Below are guides that we use to slowly get KJ to learn to swim, and I would like to share them with all the parents who want to try to get their babies wet.

*Please note that KJ does not know how to swim yet, he can dive and move underwater but he still yet to learn to keep his head up to breath.

To prepare the infant for the swimming pool or sea, start from bath time:

When in bath (can start as early as 1 month old), count out loud to 3, and blow your baby's face.
Repeat counting everyday in the bath, and after a while you will notice each time you count to 3 and blow the baby's face they will close their eye, drip some water on their forehead, and let the water drip down the face. Do not wipe off the water.
Increase the water amount gradually, until you can but a small cup of water over the baby's face and they didn't mind. Make sure you always count to 3 and blow the face than only pour over over the head. Do not splash over from below so it accidentally enter the nose. It is unpleasant!

Once the baby is older, (3 month onwards) you can bring the baby to the pool. You can first practice if you have a bath tub at home.

Bring the baby in the pool during warm day, keep moving and bouncing the baby in the water all the time.
move the baby in the water by placing the baby on his back, and gliding him back and forth in the water to let them feel the water movement. Note that your baby may start to kick their legs, and encourage them to do so! The video below shows KJ at 5 months. He was already very use to the water, and kicking away.

When you are ready, get baby upright, facing you, bounce with your baby in the water, and count to 3, blow his face, and go totally underwater. Your baby will be alright to do that, bring him up and keep moving. Have a goggle ready, the baby's expression is priceless!

Do not start them too late, they will start to develop fear after 7 month old, and also forget the feeling of being in the womb.

Best result if you have both parents in the water to glide the baby back and forth between parents.

Genting Highland Revisit

After my first visit to Genting Highland with my gong-gong and po-po last year, we revisiting Genting yesterday with them again. This time, I really enjoyed my trip!
I brought my Baba (Barney) along with me to Genting.
There were so many nice things to play and see at Genting Highland.
This is my first ride ever, the Merry-Go-Round, and papa got the privilege to go on the ride with me.
We did some shipping,
and play some nice fun games,
And we ended our night with nice hammering game, and called it a night.

The Next morning the weather was really nice and we tried all the ride that I can go on!

The End of my Breastfeeding Journey- Mama's Entry

The beginning of my breastfeeding journey was a tough one, and me being a stubborn cow, finally succeeded, and breastfed KJ exclusively until yesterday 19th October 2009, and I discovered that I have no more milk! I suspected that was due to my pregnancy. Initially I would like to continue breastfeed KJ to 18 months, right before I give birth to no. 2. But it seems like I have to cut short the journey.
The toughest part of weaning KJ now is him getting to sleep. He has been depending on me to get to sleep, and for the past 2 nights, he has to learn to settle down by himself without my nai-nai. As I am typing this post, he is crying in the room with papa, trying to settle down. Yesterday he tried for 30 mins, and tonight he finally settled into sleep in his papa's arm within 15mins. We hope that his crying before sleeping will cease soon. I can't take it any longer to listen to him crying for me. That was one of the reason I delayed the sleep training till now. So here marked the end of my special journey, but my love to KJ will never end here.
Here too mark a very proud mile stone in my life, thank you all who help cheer me and support me during my BF journey!

Monsoon 2009

Hello people, it is the time of the year again, mama and papa are packing up to leave the island.
Here you can see me and the boxes and bags that are going with us to the mainland.

When we are all ready, papa, mama, aunty Kat, Kakak, and me are heading to the mainland in "My Boat". This is me with my very cool looking life vest, and you can see that I really love boat ride, the wind in my hair make me feel like I am flying!!

Mama told me that we will be going to Kong-kong and Popo's house first, but we will not get to play at the beach everyday!

Our car journey was about 7 hours, and we stopped at my kong-kong's hometown Lenggong for dinner, there we had the most delicious ball-ball (fish ball):

The journey wasn't as bad as mama think it was going to be, because papa installed the in flight entertainment for me, and I enjoyed my whole journey back without complaining too much. I only whinged a little during the last 2 hours of the journey, which mama let me get out of my car seat and stretch my legs for a bit.

We arrived home to my kong-kong, popo and jiu-jiu, and everyone were so happy to see me. I was very tired, but was happy to see them all, and I stayed up playing with them till 10pm!

I recently got exposed to Barney, and am in love with it! Every morning I woke up after asking for my mama, and nai nai, I will ask for BABA, that's what I call Barney.

This is me on my way to Kota Bharu this morning, papa has installed me the in flight entertainment system to keep me amuse.

14 and a half Month Old - Mama's Entry

Time flies, my baby is now almost 15 month old, and he sure can do a lot now!

He can now:

Say a few things, he speaks some Mandarin, but he certainly understand English too.
His biggest word is now a 3 syllabus word "Butterfly", sometimes he say it really clear, but sometimes it sounds like "Babafly". He has many commands like "pok" means peel when he hands you an orange (his favourite fruit). "xia chee" means go down when is wants to get off the high chair or the bed. Babul means Bubbles for his bath or asking someone to blow bubbles for him.

This is KJ when he's enjoying his Orange.

Since he started to walk right after his birthday, he's been walking non-stop. There are time that everyone at Bubbles at worn out by him running round and round the restaurant. It sure is nice to watch him toddling around, but now we are all so tired running after him!

His ball playing skills improve, from dribbling, he now kick ball, and control it for a distance! He can throw rather accurately over his head, and roll the ball to the desire direction without miss.
Everyone at the resort think he will either become a footballer, or a NBA player.

Hello Everyone! How are you? Me? I am very busy! Busy learning to walk, exploring my world, and busy being a full time beach bum! Come join me and see a day of my life!

When I wake up, I go to the beach...

than I spend more time there pondering about what I should do next...

after my papa will join me when he is done with work, and we will do the boat jump, I love this game a lot!

I love hanging out with me papa and mama on the beach!Now that I can walk, I can join them to walk the beach!

After the sun went down, mama will make me dinner, and these are some picture of me posing for camera.

I am very good to smile for photo shoots now after so many resort guest taking photos of me! :)

My Island Party

They prepared so many balloons for my island party!

my mama made me a giant choc swirl cheese cake. But I get none of it! All the volunteers and resort guest got a piece of that. They said it was yummy!

I didn't really like my island party, it was too dark and I got cranky!

13 months old update

Hello everybody! Sorry for not updating my blog recently. My mama got really busy and she doesn't let me blog without her assistance!! The internet connection is almost impossible to upload photo at the moment, so we are going to do some text only update on this one.

I am turning 13 months tomorrow, and since my last update I have learned a few new skills:

I can walk now, toddling and tumbling here and there, not very good yet, but I am loving this new skill. I walk around the restaurant, and also walking hand in hand on the beach with my papa and mama. I like falling on the sand, drop and roll sometimes, it is really fun!

I can now call a few things by name:

Ah Boot - Anything round like egg, onion... including my kakak and my Aunty Libby.

I like to read books on my own, and my mama can actually left me reading and she can go minding her own business and left me alone for a while.

I still love my food, now learning to feed myself, and papa refuse to sit next to me because I always want to high 5 him in the middle the meal.

I can drink very well from a cup myself, but occasionally I like to wash my hair with my drinks if mama is not watching. Have you tried is before? it is real refreshing!!

That a few things I can do now. My mama says she will post my island birthday party photos soon!

Please visit me ya, I love to have visitors to play with! Mama been busy and papa been diving so much that they don't have much time to play with me!

My Early Birthday Celebration

My papa and mama took me back to KL for my phumococal jab, and my kong-kong, popo, and jiu-jiu took this opportunity to celebrate my 1st birthday (My real birthday is on the 28th June). So they went all out to plan for my party:

First we went to order baloons when we got back, and seems like the adults were having more fun than I was!And the next morning we were busy setting up, we use my jiu-jiu's porch as play ground for my guest, and my kong-kong and popo's place for the old people.

These toys are for me and my friends to play with!!!I have to supervise the set up to make sure everthing is good before my guest arrive!

When everything is set up, we make sure our guest know where the party is!
Me and papa doing a sound check to make sure the entertaining system and the PA system is working!

And the street dancer is doing his warm up! Presenting special guest of honor Jen-Jen my cousin from Ipoh!

When everything is done, I put on my party dress, shoot some hoops to entertain my guest...
And the guest will arrive with a lot of gifts...
and they get to play with all the things we have prepared for them...
they also get party packs with cool mask and baloons!
after playing and eating, we got a nice cake with candle...and everyone sang me song!
It was a very very nice party, I woke up the next morning and found myself surrounded with nice gifts...mama said it is like Christmas!!
Thank you verybody who made my birthday party so amazing! We should have it more often!

Things I Have I Learnt Before I turned 1 :) !!

I am less than a month away to turn ONE YEAR OLD! Yay I am going to be a big boy soon.

These are some of the things that I can do (those can only be capture on video)

Mama has been teaching me how to do sign language to indicate what I want!

Translation:

First sign when I touch my head/hair means I want my hair to be combed!
Second sign when I wave my hand next to my head means PLEASEEEE
Third sign when I point to my mouth means I wanna drink
Fourth sign when I hit my head means I am having a headache (which I don't) Hehe

I do love to comb my hair (remember my hairstyle post?)

I do exercise during rainy days, 1, 2, 1, 2!

I can stand for like 5 seconds only when I am playing!!

Come celebrate my 1st Birthday soooon!!

11 month and counting!

I am 11 month old today!!
I am a big boy, and my mama said 1 more month I am going to 1 year old! A 1 WHOLE YEAR!!! Mama told me that we are going to have a big party, and I get to have a cake for myself, but the adults will eat it, and I am not allowed!

Anyway, I am really a big boy now, many people come to the resort think I am 1 year plus. I love friends now, and love talking too. See below is me and some of my friends.

Signing KJ

I got more and more verbal lately, but my papa and mama can't understand a word I said, and that drive me crazy! Mama decided to teach me sign language, so we can communicate. Being a geeky mama, she bought a book on baby signing, and started teaching me sign language.

In the beginning papa thought I didn't pay any attention to my mama's silly sign. But one day I shown my mama milk sign, and she was so happy! But papa think it was a fluke, until I show him again when asked.

Now I can sign for:
drink
please
good bye/hello (I can even say Bye-bye and Hi)
no more
NO NO!! ( I know how to shake my head since yesterday)
milk (I stop signing for that cuase all I need to do is to give mama "that look" and she knows)
and finally this is my favourite sign: Comb my hair please!

KJ goes Shopping

Today Papa and Mama told me we are going to Kota Bharu for a day, so we brush up and got on the boat.

This is me wearing my papa's cap, am I cool or what?

We went to KB town checked in to a hotel, and mama said we are going to shop till we drop, and off we go to Tesco. This is the first time I sat on a shopping cart, it is so much fun!

I really enjoyed the trip, I think we should do this more often!

Time flies, it was just like yesterday that KJ was a new born, and us struggling to how to become parents. Just a blink of eyes and my baby is slowly growing into a little man!

Watching Kai-Jin grow is such an amazing experience, he was such a vulnerable baby on the first day of his arrival, crying alone in the crib feeling scare and lonely with mama and papa. Now he growing into an individual, who has his own likes and dislikes.

Everything that KJ does amazed us. We are in awe with things that he can do, because we watched him learn everything from discovering his arms, to his first smile.

Now he is 10 months old, and he started to discover the world around him. He started to stand and cruise in his play pan.

Everything around him interest him, and he takes in everything around him with his wide eyes.The new skills he acquired lately like call mama none stop, it was the most amazing sound on earth! One day at about 4am, we woke up, turned to Ronnie and call out: "papa...papa". That was the first time that we don't mind being awoken at that hour!

Our little man is growing very fast, he sometimes doesn't act his age...we secretly wish that KJ doesn't grow too fast! Cause papa and mama can't carry you if you grow too fast! :)
